Growing/Care
Tomato plants can be transplanted out once the soil has warmed to above 10C and all danger of frost has passed. They require fertile soil. It is useful to dig in or top dress with compost. Natural fertilizers such as kelp, fish fertilizer or compost tea, can be watered in every two or three weeks until bloom time.
Once plants are rooted in after transplanting, infrequent waterings are recommended to encourage strong plants with deep root growth that require less water during summer.
Vining tomatoes need support, such as a trellis or strings, and need suckers need to be pruned regularly to encourage flower and fruit production.
