Habit
Showy and graceful. 4ft -6ft tall to 2.5ft wide. Leaves are toothed and pale below, flowers magenta-pink in whorls alternating up the stems.

Sun/Soil
Prefers full sun to partial shade. Grows best in well-drained, moderately fertile soil but is adaptable to a wide range of garden conditions. Tolerant of both heat and cool weather once established.Germination/Sowing
Seeds can be started in flats indoors in spring.

Germination/Sowing
Seeds germinate readily when sown in spring. Lightly cover or surface sow and keep soil evenly moist until germination. Can also be direct sown once danger of frost has passed.

Growing/Care
Easy to grow and low maintenance. Plants grow quickly and may self-seed if flowers are left to mature. Pinching early growth can encourage a bushier habit.

Harvesting
The aerial parts are traditionally harvested when the plant is in flower.
