Habit
To 3ft tall and 2ft wide. Showy blue flowers on sturdy flower spikes. Blooms August to October. A good plant to attract beneficial insects. 

Sun/Soil
Prefers moist to soggy soil, and a semi-shaded location.

Germination/Sowing
Seeds germinate easily and can be direct sown in fall or spring, or started in flats in the spring and then transplanted. 

Growing/Care
Plants can be cut back in fall time. Needs regular watering during the growing season.

Medicinal Uses
Used traditionally by indigenous groups of eastern North America for the treatment of infections.
